Interview is a process in which one or more person i.e. interviewer assess the inner qualities of a person to judge if he/she is suitable for admission to a course,getting scholarship, job or anyother purpose. The qualities assessed are strength, weakness, interest, values, aspirations and skills of the interview to affect a situation or a task.Interview is arranged to seek out out the qualities of an individual which can’t be assessed by written examination.It is necessary to try to to well in interview because it opens the door of achieving success.



Most of us feel nervous while preparing for or giving interviews. To avoid it, one should be careful and be well prepared before getting to attend an interview. He/she should know very well about the organization. He/she has got to have clarity about the aim or aim of the interview for which the interview goes to be held before hand.If you've got applied for a joband are called for an interview, you should be confident that this job is meant for you only. Ignoring the number of candidates, think that you are the sole person fit this job.

1. Telephonic Interview for :

Screening purpose: When there are too many candidates for an interview, the companies conduct screening on the telephone by carrying out a telephonic conversation. These interviews are generally brief and the questions focus on basic qualification of the candidate. 

For a far off candidate: Phone interviews & vedio-conferencing are also carried out if the candidate lives far away in a different state or country. In this case the interview is longer than the screening interview. 


2. One to one interview: This is the most normal method of interviewing and is held between one interviewer and a single candidate.

3. Panel interview: sometimes the employer decides to have a group of experts who interview the candidate. These interviews are generally held for a more responsible position.

4. Serial Interviews: In a serial interview you will be interviewed by different people normally one after another. This is generally mentally and physically very tiring because it takes almost a complete day. These interviews are conducted for a senior level position.

While preparing for Interview 

  • Read and research about the organization from news and websites.

  • Your resume should only have details of your actual experience and not those aspects during which you do not have experience

  • Analyze the work description.Fully understand the role that interview is being conducted by going through the job description

  • Identify the knowledge, abilities, skills and experiences the employer is looking for.

  • Prepare questions to be asked by the interviewer.

  • Anticipate potential questions and prepare answers accordingly.

  • Practice with mock interviews.


On the day of Interview

  •  Remember first impression is the last impression.

  • Dress properly i.e. plan what to wear in advance. Wear formal dress.

  • Carry all necessary documents along side samples of your work, if relevant.

  • Reach the venue on time.• don't be nervous – be composed and calm.

Important Note

 Many interviews end with “Do you've got any Questions”. In such situation you can ask to the point questions to seek information only. Do not discuss for clarifying a previous topic or regarding facts which you can find on the organization’s website.
